Science Journal: Week 2

The STEM lesson plan was a challenge but well worth it. I discovered a lot about my lesson planning and how it's lacking a few key components. I was astonished at first but remembered this was the type of lesson which drew me to science in the first place. The engaging, investigating, and discussing in order to complete the study at hand. Unfortunately, I worked in a district where discussion during class is not encouraged. Students are to be seated and working quietly. How do we overcome this challenge in order to promote STEM education?

This week I learned there are so many resources available to science teachers. I completed the NSTA survey with my students every year without knowledge of how intense and supportive their website is. I am sure of all the sites on the Tour we took this week, "Benchmarks" and NSTA will have the greatest impact on my teaching practice.
